The Lakouva Project

Abstract

The ‘Lakouva Project’ constitutes an innovative web application aiming at the recording of structural imperfections (a combination of photograph and explanatory text on the dangerous points) for the wider region of both Tripoli’s road network and central road arteries of Peloponnese region. The depiction of these imperfections takes place in a map, which is refreshed dynamically via automated process and is accessible in all internet users. In addition, authorized users are able to update the elements of each record, such as the element status (under construction, constructed etc). This project could be very helpful for a construction company in which can very easily be applied to. However, the basic advantage is that ‘Lakouva project’ contributes to the reduction of road accidents owed to streets’ imperfections, since via this application users-drivers could be informed and watch, either before their trip (e.g., via DSL access) or even real time during their trip (via wireless mobile access e.g., GPRS or 3G) the streets’ dangerous points and traps of wider road network of Peloponnese.
